Bereavement Support
You have heard that saying about taking a village to bring up a child; well it also takes that same village to support someone who is grieving. There are many community supports in York Region for individuals and families who are experiencing the loss of a loved one, and each organisation offers slightly different supports to best suit your needs.
- 1:1 counselling
- Group and peer support with individuals who are in a similar situation as yourself
- Wellness programs which can include yoga and mindfulness for grief support
- School programs for elementary and high school aged children, that can include art therapy, groups and individual or family support
- Legacy work and memorial activities to honour your loved one.

Grief and Trauma Recovery
Unresolved Grief and Trauma are the number one reason people become ill.
Your biochemistry becomes affected; your entire system is compromised and over time begins to breakdown.
Grief is an appropriate, multi-faceted, emotion-based response to any form of loss.
Trauma can be anything from witnessing a horrific event to being emotionally neglected as a child, the latter being the most common form of trauma and least diagnosed. The important aspect of trauma is the imprint the trauma leaves inside of you.
